About the Exibition
AQ @ Priyasri is a group exhibition featuring twelve emerging artists associated with AQ – The Artist Centre, Baroda. A vital platform for new voices, AQ nurtures Baroda’s rich artistic ecosystem and showcases young talent pushing boundaries across mediums. This show at Priyasri Art Gallery, Mumbai, brings together a compelling cross-section of their diverse visual narratives.
Pulak Sanpui’s dreamlike landscapes recall his childhood in Kolkata’s Badartala, marked by delicate flowers, looming clouds, and quiet solitude. His works find harmony with Disha Jani’s Dancing Trees, a celebration of nature's grandeur, detailed with moss, mushrooms, and quiet forest floor life.
Anasuya Mohapatra’s Hanging Culture presents a symbolic portrayal of feminine resilience during turbulent times, while Devdoot Rajyaguru (Guru) uses mixed media to metaphorically address the tensions of communalism.
Heena P. Mistry’s shadowy, minimalist interiors evoke mystery, contrasted by Mehul Patel’s sensuous bronze sculpture Flood, a dynamic exploration of form and flow. Ambu Rathawa’s psychologically charged canvases blend fantasy and fear in haunting visual stories.
Nikita Parikh draws on miniature traditions, layering stencil and paint to create festive, decorative scenes of daily life. Devendra Dusawar’s realist-expressionist portrait explores introspective solitude in rich amber hues.
Sanjay Barot offers a meditative figure behind a barred window—subtly optimistic, capturing both despair and hope.
K. K. Satheesh weaves Kerala’s folklore into mythical imagery, while Ajay Sharma’s conceptual photography satirizes romantic tropes using heart-shaped balloons in site-specific performances.
Together, these artists represent the vibrant, multifaceted spirit of Baroda’s new generation—each rooted in place, yet expansive in thought. AQ @ Priyasri is a celebration of this creative dialogue, connecting emerging talent to a broader art-loving audience.
