About the Exibition
A/P III brings together a dynamic range of young printmakers from M.S. University, Baroda, with a focus on showcasing the depth and diversity of printmaking techniques, many of which even seasoned art collectors may not fully recognize. Featuring works by around 15 artists, the exhibition highlights a variety of processes including etching, woodcut, aquatint, lithography, viscosity, colograph, soft ground, screen print, gum bite, serigraphy, digital print, engraving, embossing, and more.
Despite printmaking being a long-standing language of artistic expression, it is often misunderstood by the public. A key distinction remains between original hand-pulled prints created by artists and photomechanical reproductions. A/P III aims to bridge this gap in understanding and appreciation. As senior artist Jyoti Bhatt once remarked, “Prints are for people who have more taste than money.” This sentiment underscores the accessibility of printmaking, a medium that allows collectors to acquire original artworks without high financial barriers.
The show celebrates printmaking as a process-driven art form, where the artist is involved at every stage, often leading to unexpected and exciting results. The exhibition not only offers viewers insight into these rich, hands-on techniques but also positions prints as thoughtful and meaningful gifts. As a collector or enthusiast, there’s something deeply personal in owning or gifting a handcrafted print where each piece is a blend of skill, experimentation, and artistic intent.
