About the Exibition
A second edition curated by Priyasri Patodia, Only Tangibles II brings together artists across generations who are redefining the Indian contemporary art scene. Featuring graduates from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, the exhibition presents sculptures, installations, and graphic printmaking as the visual vocabulary. The show presents A/P Artist Print practitioners such as Dimple Panchal, Preeti Agarwal, and Dushyant Patel among others. It also showcases sculptors such as Rajesh Kumar Prasad, Kkrunual Patel, Umesh Sarvaiya and many more.
At its core, the exhibition highlights why sculpture remains a popular medium even today. It showcases how artists and the medium are both adaptable to the changing tastes and urbanisation. Although the medium is challenging, with developing infrastructure and modern day facilities, the transportation of art pieces has become easier. This has allowed artists to experiment in sizes and adapt to requirements of the present day art collector and use newer and more innovative materials than ever before.
This freedom is reflected in the uniqueness of the show that includes sculptures that are restricted in size and can aesthetically fit into urban spaces such as the offices or average apartments and homes. Due to its tactile medium, sculptures infuse all five senses imbedding a raw connection between the artist and the material. This makes the artworks much more personal along with having greater accessibility for the audience.
