About the Exibition
The exhibition is a window into the creative processes of the current artists-in-residence at AQ@Priyasri - The Artist Studio, Vadodara. Founded in 2003, AQ@Priyasri was envisioned as a space to foster emerging talent, encourage critical dialogue, and help young artists shape their distinct voices through mentorship, experimentation, and community.
This edition features eight artists including four printmakers; Pranoti Malkute, Savitha Ravi, Durgadas Garai, Ankita Daulatabadkar; and four painters Radhika Wader, Parikshit Pisal, Astha Patel, Rumit Donga; along with Sheena Bajaria, who interned at Priyasri Art Gallery, Mumbai. Their work is a dynamic mix of mediums and styles, ranging from oils, charcoals, watercolours, and inks to clay, etching, viscosity printing, cyanotype, and gum bichromate techniques. Spanning from abstraction to realism, figurative to exploratory approaches, the exhibition reflects their evolving visual languages.
Initiated and mentored by artist and educator Anjum Chaturvedi, the group spent three months probing artistic intention, process, and methodology. The guiding question: Why do you do what you do?, serves as both a challenge and a catalyst for each artist to examine their choices and direction.
The Open Studio will first be held in Vadodara, followed by a preview in Mumbai during Art Night Friday in collaboration with MMAC on December 20, 2019. The aim is to encourage spectatorship, invite conversation, and offer these young artists a platform for interaction and perhaps even helping them discover their artistic voice through the exchange.
