Book Worm

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, in collaboration with Priyasri Patodia, Founder of Priyasri Art Gallery, proudly presents The BookWorm. This is an interactive pavilion designed by architect Nuru Karim and is conceived as a “House of Ladders”. The Pavilion is designed to be an interactive installation on the bustling campus of CSMVS enabling a holistic exchange of scholarship with an objective to foster a sense of reading in the youth population and encourage curated reading content for children towards community building through a contrived book collection. The Book Pavilion sincerely invites the children to touch, read, and feel the books, which is absent in today’s digital age.

The books on the ladder were a deliberate effort towards collection of books from diverse educational institutes and individuals with an aim to deploy them in both urban and rural center.Irrespective of dialects, it is indispensable to foster a sense of “love for reading” at an early age. This pop-up pavilion “house of ladders” humbly aspires to labour as a torch-bearer of knowledge.

The House of Books is a deployable pavilion measuring 120 by 40 feet, the stylized compartments pose as shelves for the arriving books. Fabricated by hand using recycled plywood, the entire pavilion could be repetitively dismantled and packed. This will serve as an essential space for reading in environs as we envision this as an unconventional library which can be installed in a public park, corporate office foyer, gated communities, educational institutes, private libraries, museums.
