About the Exibition
City of Joy brings together the works of nine young, talented artists from the renowned Bengal School of Art.
Deeply rooted in one of India’s oldest traditions of art-making, these artists reflect the pulsating shifts in today’s socio-economic and political landscape through their contemporary lens.
Blending traditional techniques with modern materials and ideas, their work embodies a unique synthesis of heritage and innovation. Each artist carries forward a strong lineage and rigorous technical background, which distinguishes their practice while allowing them to engage with the changing realities of the present day.
This exhibition not only celebrates the continuity of Bengal’s rich artistic heritage but also presents a new generation of artists who are reshaping it with their distinct voices and fresh perspectives.
We extend heartfelt thanks to Jogen Chowdhury (Jogen da) for his unwavering support and belief in this initiative.
