About the Exibition
Culture fundamentally shapes artistic practice, with each artist interpreting it uniquely, producing diverse visual languages that reflect cultural symptoms. This exhibition explores these varied interpretations amid the complex dynamics of globalization—a space where cultural symptoms intersect not merely as discourse but as power systems across regions.
The featured artists engage with pressing contemporary issues including gender, religion, and social transformation. Swetha BV critically explores feminine identity through societal confrontations, while Shahin Mansuri offers a nuanced dialogue with her own religion and culture. Durga Prasad addresses the complexities of Black identities within white hegemonic structures.
Narendra Patel contrasts urban scenes with translucent imagery to create visual camouflage. Bhavin Mistry depicts machine-like creatures symbolizing urban mechanisms, and Aji Adoor examines rural-to-urban transformation through human migration. Abhijit Paul subverts historically constructed animal identities by situating them in new contexts, while Prashanth Nageshkar portrays animals in motion as metaphors for society’s accelerated pace. Khanjan Maru focuses on minute creatures like insects, reimagining their place in diverse spaces.
Isha Diwanji’s work aligns closely with photography, reflecting a form of Mediatic Realism. Preeti Agrawal’s hybrid figures evoke alienation, and Minesh Vaghela creates unusual narratives by repositioning objects outside conventional frameworks.
Many artworks engage implicitly with human experience, shaped by the fluid cultural identities of the artists. This exhibition assembles these diverse expressions into a fragmented yet intersecting cultural assemblage, inviting reflection on the multifaceted symptoms of contemporary culture.
