Glaze and Glaze II

Glaze & Glare II is an innovative exhibition curated by Priyasri Patodia which showcases ceramics from artists Vinod Daroz, Vineet Kacker, Gopinath S., Forum Thakore, Chandrashekhar Patil, Aqueel Ahmed, and Anuj Poddar. The show explores the concept of studio pottery which is relatively new in India along with exhibiting artists who use glass as a medium for art. Although clay has been used in India since time immemorial for building houses, utilitarian objects, for fashioning pots and pans, but as a medium of artistic expression it has taken a back seat.

According to the eminent artist K. G. Subramanyan, clay’s language is versatile. This versatility can be seen in the works of these artists who, going against the stream, have transformed the standing of ceramics and glass as an art form. These artists challenge the traditional perspective and explore various techniques and themes where the forms mutate from purely decorative to abstract.

In a time where Indian collectors are looking at various mediums, Glaze & Glare II provides a platform for the exposure and appreciation of these new mediums, making this exhibition a passionate pursuit to showcase studio pottery and glassware art of India.
