About the Exibition
Nu de Models is a design research series by NUDE, the interdisciplinary studio founded by architect and designer Nuru Karim. The exhibition explores systems in nature through advanced methods in design, computation, and digital fabrication, placing experimentation and innovation at the core of its cultural and pedagogical practice.
Working at the intersection of public art, architecture, urbanism, and design optimization, NUDE engages with digital "making" tools to address broader environmental, social, and cultural networks. The models showcased in this series are inspired by biomimetic systems, evolutionary computation, and natural geometries ranging from sine waves in ocean currents to mathematical surfaces and organic patterns. These experimental constructs provoke sensory engagement and reimagine human interaction with three-dimensional space. They test perception and experience through varying scales, ranging from architectural skins and spatial installations to sculptures which encourage exploration, discovery, provocation, and dialogue. Each model consciously responds to the human gaze, inviting direct interaction and reinterpretation.
Stripped to reveal the essence of “code” and fabrication processes, Nu de Models blurs traditional boundaries between art, sculpture, installation, and architecture. The work positions “art” as design research, merging object-making with performance, space, sound, and site-specific contexts. Through this exhibition, NUDE argues for a future where form, function, and fabrication align seamlessly with nature’s logic, offering a bold vision of digitally powered design deeply rooted in natural intelligence.
