About the Exibition

Pristine curated by Priyasri Patodia is an exhibition that manifests the transitional phase of student artists where language resides between development and uncertainty. Their creative expression captures a space where the act of making and the act of thinking often contradict, revealing a spontaneous and playful working process. Guided more by mood than method, their art evolves intuitively, shaped by shifting emotions and experiences.

This spontaneity opens a space for transcendence and transformation, where each piece becomes a layered record of preparation, reflection, and emotional shifts. For instance, a painting begun in joy may absorb the impact of a sudden disagreement, resulting in a single frame that expresses multiple rasas which is the core aesthetic concept of Indian art referring to emotional essence or flavor.

Rooted in the rasa theory, Pristine embraces a holistic development of the young artist, integrating personality and emotion into visual language. Just as rasa in Sanskrit means “juice” or “flavor” to be tasted and internalized, the works in this exhibition offer an inner tasting of emotions which are raw, undistorted, and present before intellectual analysis or social shaping. This show reflects the undiluted inner experiences of students from their thoughts, feelings, sensations, as they surface in their purest form. It questions language, memory, self-perception, and miscommunication, inviting viewers to witness how consciousness and emotion manifest visually.

Ultimately, Pristine is an invitation to engage with the unfiltered artistic voice of students reminding us of the purity and complexity of emerging expressions.
