About the Exibition
Curated by Priyasri Patodia, Tangibles brings together established masters as well as emerging artists under one roof who use sculptures as their primary medium of expression. In a time where fewer practitioners take up this challenging medium, the exhibition rather than solely focusing on their works, goes a step further to delve into their process and inspiration to choose sculpture as a language of art.
Sculpture by nature, is a uniquely immersive and tactile form of art. From its genesis to the final form, sculptors have a powerful and personal dialogue between hand and material. This connection is a confluence which engages all five senses, making the process a sensory dialogue which gives sculpture its distinctive presence, making it a language unlike any other in the world of art.
With the modern advancements in infrastructure and modern logistics, transportation and handling of sculptural works is significantly easier. Simultaneously, artists are increasingly adapting their creations to meet the spatial and aesthetic preferences of contemporary collectors, often working with innovative materials and compact formats suited to modern living.
Tangibles sets itself apart with its focus on scale. Each sculpture in the exhibition is intentionally limited in size, designed to aesthetically fit within urban homes and office spaces. This makes the artworks accessible and deeply personal enabling a wide range of audience to interact with art is everyday life.
