About the Exibition
The pursuit of an artist is to create a certain stress, not the medium anymore but through the process by which he arrives at his conclusion that compels him to make a thing. The artist aims to bring into being something which did not exist before. This could be a personal reality which may not be a real object, nor just a skillfully creafted piece of decoration. He's not interested to prove cleverness but rather he attempts to imbue character to the object which he feels to be more authentic and real than the shoddy object which exists around us.
Many artist are in agreement with Sigmund Freud, who had shown that when our wakening thought are numbered the child and savage in us takes over. This concept ecohes the ancients who spoke of poetry as a kind of 'divine madness’,and later, Romantic writers like Coleridge and De Quincey experiment with opium to intentionally access these altered states.
It is this eclectic tradition of artists and thinkers who have sought to capture this feeling of strangeness and uncanny truth, giving it form in their works.
