About the Exibition
Two Zero One Six curated by Priyasri Patodia brings together 14 emerging artists from the class of 2016 at Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU, Baroda who use various mediums from printmaking, painting, sculpture, and video as their artistic expression. The show presents a collective vision that bridges memory, culture and experimentation that buds in one of the finest art hubs in India.
The works spanning from woodcuts to video installation reflect a healthy conceit of reality and influences of cultures and values that the artists carry from their surroundings and homes. These works are moulded by memories of childhood and experiences of the past at home from diverse cultural value systems. With an undercurrent of socio-economical and political influences, though these works may have traces from the past, they are used to break boundaries.
By gathering such diverse practices under one frame, Two Zero One Six celebrates the new visual language forged by these emerging artists.
